Call of Duty is heading back into Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026, with Infinity Ward leading development and a campaign that puts a new Korean squad alongside the continuing story of Captain Price. With launch just over a week away, the question is how those perspectives will come together.
A new squad steps into the conflict
The campaign follows a fictional invasion of South Korea. In Xbox Wire’s developer interview, Infinity Ward introduces Korean soldiers Park, Jay, Cho and Moon, alongside American Marines West and Dunn. That gives the story a group of fresh faces carrying the action on the ground.
Price’s story continues after Modern Warfare III (2023). Operating outside official channels, he brings a different set of motives into a conflict that stretches beyond Korea. The developers describe a campaign built around variety, with large battles and more directed raids giving missions different identities.
The team also discussed the work behind its Korean setting, from casting and dialect coaching to checking everyday details with colleagues who have Korean backgrounds. Those choices matter in a series where the setting can easily disappear behind the next explosion. Giving the squad a believable place to inhabit could make its quieter moments as memorable as the spectacle.
Multiplayer changes the shape of the fight
Activision’s official overview lists 12 Core launch maps, alongside dedicated Gunfight and Big War spaces. Kill Block is the standout concept: a modular training facility that changes its layout between rounds, with more than 500 possible configurations.
That creates an interesting test for regular players. Learning routes is part of the appeal of multiplayer; a shifting arena asks you to read the space again instead of relying on yesterday’s favorite angle.
DMZ puts extraction back in focus
DMZ sends players in solo or with a squad to recover military technology, survive hostile forces and decide when to extract. Changing weather and objectives are part of the setup. The attraction is the decision itself: bank what you have or risk another objective.
