The Lamborghini Urus has never behaved like an ordinary luxury SUV. Since its arrival, it has combined supercar presence and performance with the space, comfort and everyday usability expected from a high-end utility vehicle. Now, Lamborghini is taking that formula to its most extreme conclusion with the new Urus SE Performante.
Positioned above the standard Urus SE, the Performante becomes the most powerful and performance-focused version of Lamborghini’s Super SUV to date. It is faster, lighter and more aerodynamically advanced, while introducing new chassis technology designed to make the nearly 5,500-pound SUV feel dramatically sharper from behind the wheel.
The Most Powerful Urus Ever
At the center of the Urus SE Performante is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. Together, the two produce 812 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, equivalent to approximately 738 pound-feet. Power is sent through a recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system, while revised transmission software improves response times, reduces torque lag and allows the vehicle to react more immediately to driver inputs.
The results place the Urus SE Performante firmly in supercar territory. It reaches 62 mph in 3.3 seconds, accelerates from zero to 124 mph in 10.8 seconds and continues to a top speed of approximately 194 mph. Those figures would be impressive for any performance vehicle; for a four-door SUV with space for passengers and luggage, they border on absurd.
Electrification Without Restraint
The Urus SE Performante may be a plug-in hybrid, but Lamborghini has treated electrification as a performance tool rather than a reason to soften the vehicle. The electric motor provides immediate torque alongside the V8 and is powered by a 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery mounted beneath the cargo floor. The Urus can also travel more than 37 miles using electric power alone, giving owners the ability to complete shorter trips without engaging the gasoline engine.
Drivers can select EV, Hybrid, Recharge and Performance powertrain strategies alongside the vehicle’s traditional Strada, Sport and Corsa driving modes. The Performante also introduces a dedicated Rally mode, calibrated to encourage controlled oversteer and high-speed driving on gravel, dirt and other loose surfaces. Lamborghini’s approach makes its priorities clear: electric power is being used not only to improve efficiency, but to make the Urus faster, more responsive and more versatile.
Lighter, Wider and More Aggressive
Despite carrying a hybrid system and battery, Lamborghini has reduced the Performante’s weight compared with the standard Urus SE. Carbon fiber is used extensively across the hood, roof, wheel arches, side skirts and rear diffuser, becoming a defining part of the SUV’s appearance rather than a collection of subtle decorative accents.
The new carbon-fiber hood incorporates a pronounced central power dome and large S-Duct openings, while redesigned front and rear bumpers, sharper air intakes and dual rear spoilers make the SUV appear lower and wider. The changes are functional as well as visual, improving airflow, cooling and high-speed stability. Compared with the Urus SE, aerodynamic drag has been reduced while total downforce has increased by 23 percent. Downforce is also 16 percent higher than on the previous Urus Performante, while brake-cooling efficiency has been improved.
A New Level of Chassis Technology
Some of the Urus SE Performante’s most important changes are found beneath the bodywork. The SUV introduces Lamborghini’s new AURA dual-chamber air-suspension system, which can independently adjust compression and rebound characteristics. Lamborghini says the system significantly reduces body roll during aggressive driving while also limiting vibrations compared with the previous Urus Performante.
The track has been widened for greater lateral stability, while a six-degrees-of-freedom sensor positioned near the vehicle’s center of gravity continuously measures acceleration, pitch, roll and yaw. That information allows the braking, suspension and chassis-control systems to react more precisely to changes in the road and the driver’s inputs.
The Urus SE Performante also receives an upgraded braking system with increased stopping power and faster response. From 124 mph, Lamborghini says the SUV can come to a complete stop in less than 130 meters. Dedicated performance tires are available in 22- and 23-inch sizes, while semi-slick options can be specified for owners seeking maximum track capability.
A Hybrid That Still Sounds Like a Lamborghini
Lamborghini has also addressed one of the biggest concerns surrounding electrified performance vehicles: sound. A titanium Akrapovič exhaust system comes standard, reducing weight while giving the twin-turbocharged V8 a deeper and more distinctive character. The system is electronically calibrated for each driving mode, with Sport delivering a longer and smoother series of pops and crackles while Corsa makes them shorter, louder and more frequent.
At startup, the engine immediately flares before settling into its idle, ensuring the experience still feels appropriately theatrical. Even as Lamborghini embraces electric assistance, it clearly has no intention of allowing its flagship SUV to become anonymous.
The New Standard for the Super SUV
The original Urus demonstrated that Lamborghini could move beyond traditional supercars without diluting its identity. It became one of the company’s most important models by delivering the presence and performance of a Lamborghini in a vehicle that could be driven every day. The Urus SE Performante advances that idea rather than reinventing it.
It still offers four doors, a usable cargo area and genuine daily comfort, but now surrounds those qualities with more power, more carbon fiber and some of the most sophisticated chassis technology Lamborghini has ever fitted to a production vehicle. This is not the practical Lamborghini becoming more responsible. It is Lamborghini using electrification to make its practical model even more outrageous.
