Corteiz and Nike are bringing back one of the most recognizable sneakers of early-2000s London. The Shox R4 returns as the Corteiz x Nike Shox “R419,” revealed in an Instagram video previewing three colorways the weekend of Oct 17, with founder Clint showing the silver pair on his own account, Sole Retriever reports.

What the “R419” name means

The name joins the shoe to its designer. Clint posts as Clint419, and 419 is the section of Nigeria’s criminal code covering advance-fee scams, the “Nigerian prince” emails, a nod to his Nigerian heritage, per Sole Retriever. It is the same tongue-in-cheek energy that turned Corteiz from an underground London label into one of streetwear’s most in-demand labels.

The three colorways

House of Heat and Sneakerfiles list three pairs, already picking up Marvel-inspired nicknames:

  • Metallic Silver/University Red-Black (IQ9951-001), the “Silver Surfer”
  • Black/University Red-Metallic Silver (IQ9951-002), the “Black Widow”
  • Game Royal/University Red-Black (IQ9951-400), the “Mystique”

The nicknames are just that. Sneakerfiles notes there is no official Marvel tie-in.

Design details

The R4’s four Shox columns stay put. Corteiz’s changes are in the details: a red “C” replaces the “S” on the tongue, with CRTZ SHOX printed below, plus ridged side panels and a small Corteiz logo on the toe, per Sneakerfiles and Captain Creps.

Why the Shox R4

The Shox R4 debuted in 2000 and became a staple on the streets of early-2000s London, Sneakerjagers notes. For a London brand, it is a homecoming pick. It follows Corteiz’s earlier Nike collaborations on the Air Max 95 and the Air Trainer Huarache.

Release date and price

Nothing is official yet. Sole Retriever and House of Heat point to a holiday 2026 release through Corteiz, possibly with Nike and SNKRS. Sole Retriever reports a $180 price and Sneakerfiles says $190. Sneakerjagers mentions Oct 31 for the UK, but neither Nike nor Corteiz has confirmed a date. Reports also differ on whether apparel will release alongside the shoe.

Until there is a date, turn on post notifications for Corteiz and keep an eye on SNKRS.
