One of Supreme’s biggest collaborations of the fall is out, and its centerpiece is a Nike Dunk with Mike Tyson on the side. The Supreme x Martine Rose collection, announced Oct 12, released Oct 15 on supreme.com and in Supreme’s stores, and in Asia on Oct 17, according to Hypebae.

The Mike Tyson Dunk

The Supreme x Martine Rose x Nike Dunk Low (JA1868-001) is a black leather Dunk with a color photograph of Tyson, in red gloves, wrapped across the quarter panel and heel beneath a black Swoosh. Gold stacked “Supreme / Martine” lettering sits on the side, Nike is embroidered in gold on the heel, and the insole carries a “© Mike Tyson” credit, per House of Heat. It retailed at $150, or ¥23,100 in Japan, JustFreshKicks reports. Supreme lists it as a regular Nike Dunk Low, not an SB Dunk.

The photo is from Nov 22, 1986, the night Tyson beat Trevor Berbick in Las Vegas to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history, at 20. The shoe was first rumored in May, so for anyone following the leaks this release was a long time coming.

The rest of the collection

Martine Rose’s London tailoring and Supreme’s New York uniform meet in a long list of pieces. According to Hypebae and Stylerave, it includes:

  • A Jeff Hamilton shearling coat
  • A Patchwork Labels leather jacket with a matching five-pocket leather jean
  • A lined Cordura hooded jacket and a suede zip cardigan
  • A metallic-stripe long-sleeve shirt, plus a co-branded track jacket and pants
  • A hockey jersey, a rugby shirt, and “Now” and “Champion” tees
  • A Patchwork Labels Box Logo New Era cap, plus jacquard and base-layer beanies
  • A shearling mini duffle
  • A custom JBL PartyBox Encore Essential 2 speaker

Prices for the clothing weren’t published ahead of the drop.

Why it works

Martine Rose has made a career of taking the most ordinary menswear (football shirts, office shirts, track tops) and bending it just far enough to feel new. Supreme does something similar with American sports and street culture. Put Tyson, one of the most intimidating athletes of the ’80s, on a black Dunk and you get a shoe that reads as both a fight-night souvenir and a fashion object. The leather jacket and jean set and the Jeff Hamilton shearling are the clearest signs of Rose’s hand in the rest of the collection.

Where to get it now

If you missed the drop, resale is the likeliest place to find a pair. If you are shopping secondhand, check the style code (JA1868-001) and the insole credit, and buy from platforms that authenticate.
