The best detail on Audemars Piguet’s collaboration with Yoon Ahn and Verbal is small, red and impossible to ignore. Inside the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon, a bright mechanical centre gives an otherwise dark composition its pulse. It is a strong way to make a collaboration recognizable without covering the watch in another logo.
The Ambush co-founders have worked with AP on a limited-edition Royal Oak Concept in a 38.5 mm titanium case. The watch combines a black aventurine dial with a red aluminium flying tourbillon, while its hand-wound Calibre 2982 was developed for this edition. Black and red rubber straps use AP’s interchangeable system.
One accent does the heavy lifting
The appeal starts with restraint in the palette. Black gives the mechanism depth; titanium supplies a harder frame; red gives your eye a destination. In AP’s movement image above, the contrast is especially clear. You can get lost in the exposed machinery, but the red element brings you back to the same point.
That is an effective design choice for an object with so much going on. More colour would have been easy. A second conspicuous signature would have been easy, too. Instead, the watch asks the contrast between its parts to carry the identity of the collaboration.

Why this pairing is worth watching
Yoon and Verbal bring fashion and music into the conversation, but the interesting question is what survives once the campaign ends. A watch collaboration has to make sense at wrist scale. It needs a detail that still works when the names attached to it are no longer the first thing you notice.
Here, the red focal point gives it that chance. The connection is built into the thing you look at to read the time. Our take is that this makes a stronger lasting impression than an edition whose story lives mostly on a caseback or in a launch photograph.
The proportions add another reason to look closely. A 38.5 mm case puts this Concept in a different conversation from the oversized-watch stereotype. Diameter alone cannot establish comfort, though: the shape, thickness and strap all affect how a watch sits. We have not worn this edition, so the photographs support a design assessment rather than a fit verdict.
The detail to remember
If you are following this release for its crossover appeal, spend a moment with the movement photograph instead of stopping at the campaign. The red assembly holds the composition together even without a wrist, outfit or famous collaborator in the frame. That is the best argument for the watch: the design can carry the story on its own.
