Apple wants a permanent place on your kitchen counter. Announced October 13, HomeView is a $299 smart display built around entertainment, household controls and Siri AI. US preorders are open, with availability beginning November 13, 2026, according to Apple’s announcement.

The appeal is easy to picture: start a playlist while cooking, check who is at the door, then take a family call without balancing your phone against a coffee mug. HomeView’s challenge will be making those small tasks feel effortless enough to earn space in the room.

A screen that belongs in the room

The seven-inch Liquid Retina display comes in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Apple’s product overview describes an interface that changes with your distance from the screen, keeping information readable across the room and bringing controls forward as you approach.

Clock faces, family photos and a Snoopy display give it something to do between requests. On the tabletop model, a domed aluminum base and adjustable hinge let you aim the screen toward the couch or countertop. Those choices matter for a device that will spend much of its life sitting in plain sight.

Music, FaceTime and the everyday stuff

Apple Music brings artwork and lyrics to the display, while Handoff lets you move supported content from an iPhone. Home controls cover compatible lights, temperature settings and scenes, and the camera view can show up to nine feeds at once. Recipes opened in Safari can switch into a cooking-friendly presentation.

Underneath, Apple’s technical specifications list an A18 chip, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, four microphones and Thread connectivity. Both models support Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The tabletop version adds a down-firing woofer and passive radiators alongside its two full-range drivers; the wall version has two full-range drivers.

That gives the tabletop model a promising role as a casual listening station. The spec sheet alone cannot tell us how it sounds in a busy kitchen, though. Everyday usefulness will depend as much on hearing a request over dinner prep as on the display’s appearance.

What to know before ordering

HomeView requires an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later, plus Wi-Fi internet. Both versions need wired power. The tabletop model includes a cable and 30W adapter; wall-mount hardware, cable and power adapter are sold separately.

Siri AI arrives in beta with HomeView software 27.2. Personal-context features require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with Siri AI enabled. Apple also says some server-based AI features have daily usage limits, with paid expanded access planned later. HomeView is not launching in the EU.

For a household already using Apple devices, HomeView offers a familiar set of services in a shared, visible spot. Its strongest pitch is convenience: fewer trips to find a phone, easier calls and controls everyone can reach. Whether that adds up to a must-have will come down to the routines it improves after the novelty wears off.
