The bronze finish does most of the talking. Then you notice the dark, sculpted Swoosh, the raised lines across the upper and the little embroidered badge near the heel. Devin Booker’s latest Nike looks like it belongs beside a beautifully kept classic car.
That is the point. The Book 2 x Chevy in Metallic Red Bronze draws on Booker’s collection of Chevrolet Impalas, including his 1959 favorite, Pretty Penny. Nike’s U.S. SNKRS page lists the collaboration for September 10 at $155, under style code IO9841-900. See Nike’s release listing.
A car reference you can actually see
The tongue badge takes its cue from a hood ornament, while an embroidered Impala logo sits at the heel. Those touches give the sneaker a readable connection to the car even if you have never looked through Booker’s garage photos.
The color is doing something clever, too. In Nike’s product shots, the reddish bronze has a sheen that makes the upper resemble painted bodywork. The dark Swoosh breaks up that surface like a piece of trim. Underneath, the pale outsole gives the whole thing a cleaner finish than another heavy block of dark rubber would.
It is a coherent object. You do not need a paragraph of campaign mythology to understand why the badge, finish and color belong together. The reference has made it into the design.
How we would wear it
Straight denim, a plain tee and enough space at the hem to show the side of the shoe. The bronze already has personality; we would let it carry that part of the outfit. Faded black trousers would work for the same reason, giving the finish something quiet to sit against.
The tempting move would be to add a racing jacket, branded cap and every other garage reference in reach. We would stop at the sneakers. A good collaboration should be able to enter your rotation without bringing a complete costume along with it.
That makes this pair interesting beyond Booker fans. The car story gives it a distinct visual identity, but the silhouette still reads clearly from across the room. You can like it as a sneaker first and enjoy the Impala connection afterward.
The release details that matter
The confirmed U.S. list price is $155. Check your regional SNKRS page for the launch time, sizes and live availability; the time shown by the site can depend on location.
Our take: the paint-like finish and automotive badges earn their place here. Keep the rest of the fit simple and let Pretty Penny get some mileage.
