Nintendo has officially launched the Switch 2, marking its first major console release in eight years. Priced at $449.99, or $499.99 bundled with Mario Kart World, the Switch 2 introduces significant hardware and software enhancements that elevate the hybrid gaming experience.

The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support, offering vibrant visuals in handheld mode. When docked, it delivers up to 4K resolution at 60fps. Under the hood, a custom NVIDIA processor, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage ensure faster load times and smoother gameplay. The new Joy-Con 2 controllers attach magnetically and can function as a mouse in compatible games, enhancing versatility.

At launch, the Switch 2 offers over 20 titles, including Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and Street Fighter 6. The console maintains backward compatibility with existing Switch games, many of which receive performance enhancements on the new hardware. New social features like GameChat and GameShare allow real-time voice and video communication among up to 12 players, provided a separate USB-C camera is used. The Switch 2 is now available at major retailers, with strong demand expected through the summer.
