A 22-Year Hiatus, a Spaceship, and P. Diddy — What the Hell Is Going On in South Park?
“IS THAT STARVIN’ MARVIN BEING CHASED BY DIDDY?!?”
— The entire internet, probably.
After a brutal two-year hiatus that felt longer than Cartman’s chili revenge plot, South Park is finally back — and it’s bringing some deep cuts out of retirement. The Season 27 trailer just dropped and fans are in full meltdown mode thanks to the surprise return of a cult classic character : Starvin’ Marvin.
In a chaotic 80-second teaser filled with Easter eggs, chaos, and P. Diddy(?), eagle-eyed fans spotted the emaciated Ethiopian icon piloting a spaceship — a direct callback to Season 3’s “Starvin’ Marvin in Space.”
It’s been 22 years since Marvin’s last major appearance. Now he’s back. In space. And apparently beefing with Sean “Diddy” Combs , who’s depicted as a galactic threat in this upcoming arc.
Yeah... South Park really said “f— a soft reboot.”
For Gen Alpha babies and casual fans: Starvin’ Marvin first appeared in Season 1 , episode 9 — a Thanksgiving-themed satire on charity, media bias, and America’s weird savior complex.
He stole Cartman’s food.
He got Cartman deported to Ethiopia.
He saved his village with a turkey massacre.
And somehow, he became a low-key fan-favorite despite barely saying a word.
Based on the teaser, Marvin’s arc is picking up right where it left off in the early 2000s — flying through space, dodging danger, and probably trying to feed his people. The question is: Why is P. Diddy involved?
Reddit, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) are flooded with theories. Some are convinced Diddy is a metaphor for the entertainment industry’s exploitation of trauma. Others think it’s just classic Parker & Stone trolling.
One Reddit user posted:
“Easily the part I’m most excited about is seeing our favorite marklar again. Also, I hope they make Diddy wild, like Mel Gibson levels of wild.”
And wild it will be. Remember, this is the same show that made Kanye West an aquatic “gay fish.”
July 9, 2025 — mark your calendars, cancel your plans, and prep your meme folders.
South Park’s ability to resurrect obscure characters and make them culturally relevant again is peak meta-comedy. It’s fan service, social commentary, and utter chaos all rolled into one.
With streaming competition at an all-time high, Parker & Stone are flexing 25+ years of cultural cachet by giving fans what they never knew they needed — a Starvin’ Marvin redemption arc in the age of Ozempic and AI Drake.
